About Big Talk on Business

Organized by NBIG:

NBIG (Nagarathar Business Initiative Group) of the U.A.E is organizing a global competition for IBCN 2017 to empower youth on the Entrepreneurial path.

Vision Behind the Youth Competitions:

Youth are the leaders of tomorrow who would carry forward the mantle of leadership in reviving and taking forward Entrepreneurship among Nagarathar to new heights in the coming decades.

Objective:

This competition is to effectively communicate a concept or an experience on Entrepreneurship through a powerful speech of 3 to 5 minutes. The Big Talk is inspired by the idea of Ted Talks and its offshoot INK Talks.

Eligibility:

  • Nagarathar youths are eligible to participate as individuals (not as a team) in this competition
  • Age Limit is 14 to 25 years (proof of age needs to be submitted)

Guidelines:

  1. The purpose and the spirit of the talk should be focused to inspire Nagarathars to take up Entrepreneurship.

  2. The talk must of 3 to 5 minutes and needs to be inspirational.

  3. It can include life changing experiences of the self (or a family member or a friend) related to entrepreneurship.

  4. The talk can be supplemented by visual aids and slides.

  5. Example topic:

    • “The Outside the box idea” detailing a revolutionary idea that changed the games.

    • “Chip off the Old Bloc” detailing the first experience of a youngster in his parent's enterprise.

    • “Shrewd and New” the business acumen and innovation displayed by the young Nagarathar inspired by a legend.

  6. Registered participants will have to appear for an initial selection round. Upon registration they will be directed to a geographical location closer to them. Selected candidates may have to go through successive rounds at select locations before being selected to be present as a speaker for IBCN 2017 at Dubai.

  7. Speeches can be in Tamil or English.

Evaluation:

A panel of judges will evaluate the submissions and their verdict will be final. Evaluation will be based on the following:

  • There may be a short Q & A by the judges after the speech for a holistic evaluation.
  • Effective Communication.
  • Originality and inspirational value of the idea presented.
  • Power of the message delivered.
  • Five selected speakers from various regions will have the opportunity to present their speech on stage during IBCN 2017 at Dubai.

Mentorship:

Mentors can provide guidance and encouragement, suggest actions for achieving the goals, provide reference to resources and make recommendations to resource persons where their support is needed. Participants can request their assistance through mail and/or phone by placing their request with details of requirement to youthhelp@ibcn2017.org.

Rewards:

The First Prize winner will be sponsored by NBIG for attending the IBCN 2017 conference.

Selected speakers will have the opportunity to present their speech to an elite audience during IBCN 2017 at Dubai.
